Match 1 Stats | Match 2 Stats | Match 2 Recap - Stats from Match 2 Moorhead, Minn.-- In the second match of the Concordia Invitational, the Cobbers proved to be very unwelcome hosts as they swept St. Boniface (Manitoba), 3-0 (30-10, 30-11, 30-11). The match was played as an exhibition and does not count on Concordia's overall record because the NCAA does not recognize matches played against teams from outside the country. Concordia controlled the match from the opening serve until the final point. St. Boniface was late in arriving for the match due to a hold up at the border because of passport issues. With little time to warm-up, St. Boniface was put into a huge hole and fell behind early. The Cobbers continued to dominate and came away with the 30-10 victory. The second and third games were more of the same as Concordia's oversized front line gave St. Boniface all they could handle. The last two games finished at 30-11, 30-11 and allowed head coach Tim Mosser the chance to give playing time to some of the players that had been used in reserve roles. Mackenzie Close was the story of the match for the Cobbers. She factored among the team leaders in three different statistical categories. She was second on the team in kills with six and led the team in digs (4) and blocks (3). Becca Shane led the Cobbers in kills for the second straight match in the invitational. She compiled a match-high nine kills. |
