Match 1 Recap - Stats from Match 1

Moorhead, Minn.-- Concordia opened the 2005 Concordia Invitational with a three-game sweep over the University of Sioux Falls (30-17, 30-27, 30-22). The victory was a positive response to the Cobbers' last outing where they were bettered by St. Thomas 3-0.

Concordia came out of the blocks very quickly, taking game one 30-17 and leaving little doubt if there would be any lingering effects from Wednesday's conference-opening slip up.

The second game of the match was the closest as both team jockeyed for position to pull away in the end. The Cobbers were able to put together a mini-run towards the end and pulled away with a 30-27 victory. The third game was a combination of the fuirst two games with the Cougars hanging tough early, and the Cobbers slowly pulling away in the end.

Concordia claimed the final game 30-22 and improved its record to 7-1. The University of Sioux Falls drops to 5-9 on the season.

Cobber freshman Abby Scheel put together her best match of the season at the net. She finished with a match-high seven blocks and added four kills.

Becca Shane led the Concordia offensive attack with 10 kills, and Danielle Norby finished with nine winners. Norby posted a .425 attack percentage in the three games.

The two-headed assist tandem of Jill Hance and Alyssa Dahl continues to control the Concordia offense. Hance posted a match-high 24 assists and Dahl added 15.

Concordia will face St. Boniface (Manitoba) at 5:00pm in the next round of play.
