Match 3 Recap - Stats from Match 3

Moorhead, Minn.-- It was only 10 days ago when Concordia hosted UM-Morris in a regular season match in Memorial Auditorium. In that match, the Cobbers used their dominant athletic size and ability to sweep the Cougars 3-0 (30-18, 30-19, 30-23). In the third match of the Concordia Invitational on Friday, the Cobbers continued their dominance over Morris, sweeping the Cougars 30-16, 30-19, 30-20.

Concordia showed improvement from its first match against the Cougars by continually blocking any Morris attack and using their deep offense to gain the three-gain sweep.

For the match, Concordia had 46 kills and only committed eight attack errors. The Cobbers also dug the ball out very well against Morris, posting 43 digs in three games.

Becca Shane finished off her fantastic Friday by posting a match-high 12 kills. In the first three matches of the tournament, she has 31 kills. She was tied for the lead in kills by freshman Danielle Norby. Norby continues to warm to the Cobber attack. She has posted double-digit kill totals in two of her last five matches. Norby also contributed eight digs.

Jill Hance accumulated 33 assists to lead the Cobber offense. Three different Concordia players had at least nine digs in the match. Anna Walden posted a team-high 11 digs, while Emily Gilbertson chipped in 10 and Michelle Honek had nine.

The Cobbers will finish off the Concordia Invitational by Northwestern College on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 10:00am. If Concordia wins the match, they will successfully defend their tournament title.
