MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/06/06)-- For the third time in the past four NCAA Tournament appearances, Concordia will be playing in the Midwest Regional Tournament. The Cobbers have been shipped to Wisconsin to begin play in the NCAA Tournament. CC will play at UW-Eau Claire beginning on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. Concordia will play Beloit College in the opening round of the tournament.

The Cobbers are seeded second in the regional. They will play the second match of the regional on Thursday, following the match between No.4-seeded UW-Oshkosh and No.5-seed St. Thomas. The Tommies are the only other MIAC school to earn a bid into the tournament.

The final match of the first round will be between host UW-Eau Claire and Carthage (Wis.) at 8:30 p.m.

The winner of the Concordia/Beloit match will play the winner of the Eau Claire/Carthage contest on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. The winner of the Tommie/Titan match will play No.1-seeded UW-Whitewater on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The second round winners will meet in the finals of the region on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.

Concordia will be playing in its fourth straight NCAA Tournament. The Cobbers have appeared in six total NCAA Tournament. CC owns a 2-5 record in the past five trips to the national playoffs and has never advanced past the second round. Last year, Concordia lost to Carleton 3-1 in the first round of the Central Regional. The Cobbers earned the trip to the NCAA playoffs by winning the MIAC regular season and playoff titles. It was the third playoff championship for the Cobbers in the past four seasons. Concordia has won 17 straight matches and is 24-1 on the year.

Like the Cobbers, Beloit won both the regular season and playoff championships in the Midwest Conference. The Buccaneers are 20-8 on the season and have won six straight matches.
