Complete AVCA National Rankings - Sept. 19

MOORHEAD, Minn. (09/19/06)-- For the first time in program history Concordia has climbed into the top 5 in tha nation! The Cobbers are ranked fourth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll (AVCA) that came out on Tuesday.

Last week the Cobbers were ranked No.7. CC then went on to beat No.4-ranked St. Thomas on Wednesday and No.16-ranked Carleton on Saturday.

Concordia is currently 9-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The lone loss for the Cobbers came against Trinity (Texas) in the final game of the Trinity Tournament. The Cobbers have posted wins against three DIII nationally-ranked teams and have beaten NCAA DII opponent Bemidji State.

Concordia has now spent a total of 25 consecutive weeks in the top 25, the longest streak in program history and longest in the MIAC. Before this season the highest the Cobbers were ever ranked was No.10 in 2005.

Concordia will host two MIAC opponents this week. They will face Augsburg on Tuesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. and then square off against St. Mary's on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. as part of the Family Weekend celebration at Concordia. Both matches will be played in Memorial Auditorium.
