MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/16/06)-- Concordia sophomore setter Jill Hance (Hopkins, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's HS) was named the MIAC Setter of the Week it was announced by the conference office on Monday.

It is the first time this season she has won the weekly award but it continues the trend of Cobber accolades in 2006. Last week teammate Becca Shane was named the MIAC Co-Hitter of the Week for the second time in the season.

For Hance it is also the first time in her career that she has captured the honor.

Hance helped lead the No.4-ranked Cobbers to three crucial MIAC victories this week, including a key road match-up against second-place Gustavus.

The three wins on the week guaranteed Concordia at least a share of the MIAC regular-season championship and secured home-court advantage throughout the MIAC playoffs.

Hance stepped up to take control of the Cobber offense in the Minnesota/Iowa Border Battle Tournament and carried it through last week. While playing in a 6-2 offense, she recorded 91 assists in 12 games including a 36-assist (9 assists/game), four-service ace performance against St. Olaf in the final match of the weekend. In addition, she added eight service aces, 26 digs and four kills on the week.

Hance has shown tremendous leadership in Concordia's 13-match win streak and is a huge contributor to Concordia's successful 20-1 season.
