GAMEDAY OPENING SERVE
(What you need to know about today’s CC-CSC
match-up)
-- Tonight’s match is the final regular season home match for Concordia’s lone senior, Mackenzie Close. She has only been in maroon and gold for one season, she is a transfer student from MSU-Moorhead, but has made the most of her time to help the Cobbers to another record-setting season.
-- Concordia has won ten straight matches and clinched its fifth straight MIAC playoff berth.
-- With two wins in their final two regular-season matches, the Cobbers could post their best record, by winning percentage, in the history of the program. Concordia is 20-2 and two victories would push their winning percentage to .917. The previous top winning percentage was last season when they had a winning percentage of .875.
-- Concordia has posted its fourth straight 20-win season. That is a program record for most consecutive seasons with at least 20 wins. In the past four years, the Cobbers have amassed a 91-24 record. Concordia’s .791 winning percentage over that time is the highest of any team in the conference.
-- The Cobbers will have a week off before their next match. Following the school’s mid-semester break, Concordia will face St. Ben’s in a match that could determine the third seed in the conference tournament.
-- St. Catherine enters tonight’s match having lost their last eight outings. In their last match, they dropped a 3-1 decision to Carleton. The Wildcats won the second game of that match 30-22.
-- The Wildcats are led by sophomore Emily Van Hon and freshman setter Whitney Sparby. Van Hon has a team-high 238 kills and Sparby is sixth in the MIAC in assists per game (8.38 a/gm) in conference games.
