MOORHEAD, Minn. (09/18/06)-- Concordia added another chapter to its season of national-setting records on Monday. Senior middle hitter Becca Shane (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Player of the Week becoming the first player in program history, and one of only a handful from the MIAC, to earn the prestigious AVCA weekly honor. Shane helped the Cobbers post the three wins over teams ranked in the top 16 of the nation in a seven-day span. Concordia swept, then No.9-ranked, UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, Sept. 9 and then last week CC downed No. 4-ranked St. Thomas 3-1 on the road and came home to beat No.16-ranked Carleton 3-1. In her two matches last week, Shane averaged 5.9 kills per game, 1.9 blocks per game and hit a noteworthy .411. She also contributed seven digs and three service aces. Shane currently leads the MIAC in kills (4.88/game), hitting percentage (.426) and blocks (1.50/game).
