ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (10/31/09)-- It wasn't the way Concordia wanted to finish the regular season as the Cobbers were swept 25-10, 25-20, 25-13 by St. Ben's on Saturday in St. Joseph. CC will now have to regroup as they start the MIAC playoffs on Tuesday at Augsburg.

Concordia was never in the match with the Blazers. CSB jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening game and never looked back. The closest game of the match came in the second when CC got to within four at 19-15 but then were forced to trade points and lost by five at 25-20.

Senior Dana Wermers led Concordia with 10 kills. Wermers and Katie Vohnoutka were the only CC players to have more than one kill on the day. Vohnoutka finished with eight winners as the Cobbers finished with a season-low -0.10 attack percentage.

Alyssa Gullekson had 11 digs to lead the Concordia defense. Amy Sykora finished with 16 assists on the match.

Concordia will enter their ninth consecutive MIAC postseason tournament when they play at Augsburg on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. The Cobbers are the No.5 seed and will face the fourth seeded Auggies in one of the two opening quarterfinal matches.
