DUBUQUE, Iowa (10/03/09)-- No.17-ranked Concordia swept both opponents on the second day of the Border Battle tournament and came away with a 3-1 record at the invite that pits the top teams from the MIAC against the top teams from the IIAC. With the two wins the Cobbers move their overall record at the six-year Border Battle Tournament to 22-2 which is the best among any team from either conference.

Concordia (10-5) cruised past Loras in the opener for the day. CC rolled to a 25-14, 25-21, 25-17 and was never challenged. Katie Vohnoutka led Concordia with 11 kills. Leslie Olson added 10 and had seven digs in the match. The Cobbers hit .275 as a team and held Loras to only .174. Amy Sykora led the offense with 31 assists.

In the second match, Concordia was pushed but came up with critical points and swept Central 25-18, 25-23, 29-27. The Cobbers were able to sustain multiple attacks from the Dutch and came up with the clutch points to get the win. Vohnoutka and Jenna Green both had 11 kills in the match. Green also had a team-high 15 digs including one where she dug out a hard kill attempt and sent the ball over the net and into the backcourt for a winner. Vohnoutka also had five blocks in the match and finished the tournament with eight blocks. Sykora came away with 37 assists.

At the end of the day Green was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Concordia will go on the road for their annual MIAC weekend road trip. The Cobbers will play at Carleton on Friday, Oct. 2 and then head to Winona to play at St. Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 3.
