MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/29/09)-- Concordia saved their best for the second and fourth games against Macalester and cruised to a 3-1 (28-26, 25-13, 22-25, 25-12) win over the Scots in Moorhead on Tuesday. The Cobbers earned their ninth consecutive win over Macalester and moved to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Scots are now 6-9 in all matches and 0-3 in league play.

Concordia bolted out of the gates in the opening game and looked like they would get a lopsided win  to start the match. The Scots were able to rebound late in the opener and took a 24-23 lead but then watched as CC scored five of the next seven points to come away with the win.

The second game was all Concordia as they carried the momentum over from game 1 and posted a 25-13 win. In game No.3, Macalester got on top early and then traded points with the Cobbers in order to post the 25-22 win. CC then returned to their even-game excellence in the fourth game when they refused to let the Scots get any rallies and captured the 25-12 win.

The Cobbers hit .384 for the match as compared to .142 for the Scots. Macalester had 95 digs and 28 assists in the four games.

Jenna Green led all players for Concordia. She had a career-high 21 kills and added a team-high nine digs. Katie Vohnoutka and Rachel Wiinanen had seven kills each in the win. Amy Sykora and Danelle Loomis split the steer duties for CC. Sykora came away with 20 assists and Loomis had 18.

Majra Mucic had a team-high 12 kills for Macalester. Kiera Coulter came away with a match-high 25 digs and Danielle Dweck had 28 assists.

Concordia will head to the annual Minnesota/Iowa Border Battle this weekend. The Cobbers will play Simpson and Wartburg on Friday and then finish with Loras and Central on Saturday. All matches will be played in Dubuque, Iowa at Loras College.
