MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/14/08)-- Concordia seniors Abby Scheel (Fergus Falls, Minn./Hillcrest Academy) and Anna Tinkham (Fisher, Minn.) were named to the named to the AVCA All-Region Team it was announced on Friday. The pair becomes the latest in a long line of Cobber players to earn the award in the past few years. It is the first time for both players to be named to an All-Region Team.

The award follows on the heels of both players being named to the MIAC All-Conference First Team.

Scheel was named to the All-Region First Team while Tinkham was placed on the All-Region Honrable Mention Team. Scheel is now eligible to earn All-American honors.

Scheel and Tinkham were two of the main reasons Concordia earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight season. The pair helped CC to a 20-5 mark entering the national playoffs. Concordia also won 10 straight matches during the year marking the third time in the past four years they have put together at least a 10-match streak. The Cobbers also won 20 matches in 2008 which is the sixth time in the past seven seasons they have achieved that feat. 

Scheel led the team in blocks and was third in kills in both overall and conference matches while Tinkhma was the team's dig leader and currently holds the school record for digs in a career and a single season.
