2007 Cobber Volleyball - Match Recaps

Abby Scheel had a match-high seven blocks in the Cobbers' 3-2 loss in the MIAC semifinals at St. Ben's on Thursday. Concordia is now 17-8 on the year and will await word on whethere they make the NCAA Tournament.

MATCH RECAP:

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (11/01/07)-- Concordia fell 3-2 (26-30, 21-30, 30-24, 30-20, 15-9) to St. Ben's in the MIAC semifinals in St. Joseph, Minn. on Thursday. The Cobbers jumped to a 2-0 lead before watching as the Blazers rattled of two straight wins to tie the match and then earn the victory by claiming a six-point win in game five.

Concordia is now 17-8 on the season and will have to wait and find out if they make the NCAA Tournament. The Cobbers have earned NCAA Tournament appearances in four straight seasons and will find out on Monday if they will make their record-setting fifth straight national tournament appearance.

In the match against the Blazers, senior Michelle Honek had a team-high 18 kills and also added 19 digs. Junior Abby Scheel had 10 kills and a match-high seven blocks. Angie Bonde was the only other Cobber player in double digits in kills. She finished with 13 kills and had 13 digs. Junior Anna Tinkham came away with a team-high 27 digs and Jill Hance produced a team-high 28 assists.

As a team, Concordia had 55 kills and had an attacking percentage of .124. St. Ben's put down 76 and hit .222 for the match. Both teams had nine total team blocks in the match.
