Cobber junior Michelle Honek after winning the Concordia Invitational for the third straight season. MATCH RECAP: MOORHEAD, Minn. (09/02/06)-- You can officially add the Concordia volleyball team in regular-season tournaments to death and taxes in the list of sure things in life. The Cobbers won their 27th consecutive regular-season tournament match and put the finishing touches on their seventh straight tournament title by sweeping Valley City State (30-24, 30-27, 30-23). Concordia went 12-1 in games during the Concordia Invitational en route to posting a perfect 4-0 record. The Cobbers have now won their own tournament for three consecutive seasons. The final match of the tournament turned in the favor of the Cobbers towards the end of the first game. Holding onto a slim 20-18 lead, Concordia rattled off five straight points which was part of a 10-6 run to earn the 30-24 win. The tone set the stage for a 7-3 run to start game two. From that point on, Cobber head coach Tim Mosser was able to use his deep bench throughout the final two games to post the three-game sweep. Becca Shane capped her Concordia Invitational career by recording 12 kills and a match-high six blocks.
