MATCH RECAP:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (09/19/06)-- The switch went off. The switch went on. The switch went back off, and thankfully for No.4-ranked Concordia, the switch had one more change and it finished in the up position.

The Cobbers survived a scare from upset-minded Augsburg and crawled away with a 3-2 (30-25, 30-16, 23-30, 22-30, 15-7) victory. It is the first time this season that the Cobbers have played a five-game match. The win helps Concordia remain perfect in conference play with a 3-0 record. The Cobbers are now 11-1 and have won three straight.

Augsburg loses their second match in the MIAC. The Auggies were coming off a huge 3-2 win over Bethel on Friday. For Augsburg, it was their third five-game match of the year. They are now 1-2 in those matches. The loss evens the Auggies overall record at 6-6, which is as many wins as they had in all of 2005.

Concordia had four players record double-digit kill totals. The quartet was led by AVCA DIII National Player of the Week award-winner Becca Shane. Shane had a team-high 16 kills and a match-high six blocks. Lindsay Sipma continued her upward trend by finishing with 14 kills, two blocks and a trio of digs. Danielle Dahl and Michelle Honek each had 10 kills to round out the Cobber front-line attack.

Alyssa Dahl and Katlin Anderson both had 24 assists to guide the CC offense, and Anna Walden posted a team-high 30 digs.

The Auggies were led by junior Katie LaGrave who finished with a match-high 17 kills. She also added 14 digs and two blocks. Dani Boner had 11 kills and Barbara Simmons chipped in 10 more kills. Haley Bower captained the Augsburg defense by amassing a match-high 33 digs.

As a team, Concordia had 68 kills and hit .172. The bad news for the Cobbers is that they had 14 service errors and only five service aces.

Augsburg hit .085 and had 56 kills. The Auggies had 128 digs in the five-game affair.
