MATCH REWIND:

Match Stats: Final Stats vs. Hardin-Simmons

The Leader: Becca Shane continued her early-season torrid pace by knocking down a match-high 21 kills in the Cobbers' 3-0 win over Hardin-Simmons. Shane has collected 36 kills in the first two matches of the tournament and has only committed two attack errors for a kill percentage of .947.

MATCH RECAP:

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (09/08/06)-- Concordia found their offensive stride in the second match of the Trinity University (Texas) Invitational on Friday as they combined for 54 kills in their three-game sweep over Hardin-Simmons (30-27, 30-24, 30-19).

The victory pushes Concordia's 2006 season mark to 6-0. Of the six victories in 2006, four have been by three-game sweeps. The win is also the 29th straight regular-season victory for the Cobbers in the past three seasons.

The Cowgirls fall for the fourth time this season and see their overall record move to 2-4.

Becca Shane showed why she is one of the top players in the region as she hammered a match-high 21 kills. Shane had 34 attack chances and did not commit a single attack error in the match. With her 21 kills, she moves into fifth place on the Cobber all-time list for kills in a career. She now has 1,191 for her career and passed Jodi Tulibaski ('96) who had 1,159 in her career.

To go along with her 21 kills, Shane also had five blocks and a single dig.

The Cobber offense stepped up a notch against the Cowgirls. Ten different Concordia players recorded at least one kill and four players had at least five kills. Fellow senior Danielle Dahl had nine kills for the second straight match. The transfer from NDSU has recorded at least nine kills in three of the team's last four matches. Michelle Honek had eight kills for the Cobber attack. The all-around solid player also added a team-high 11 digs.

Concordia will go for its eighth straight regular-season title when they finish off the tournament. The road to the title will get much tougher as they face nationally-ranked UW-Oshkosh at 1:15 p.m. and then turn around and square off against host trinity at 3:30 p.m. Oshkosh is currently ranked No. 9 in the AVCA poll and Trinity has made it to the NCAA playoffs the past 14 consecutive seasons.
