Northwestern Game Statistics

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- The season-long theme of allowing goals in pairs reared its ugly head once again in Concordia's game against Northwestern (Minn.) on Tuesday. The Cobbers went into half time tied at 1-1 with the Eagles but then allowed a pair of goals 1:02 apart at the start of the second half and lost 3-1.

The deadly duo marked the 10th time this season that Concordia has allowed two goals in the span of seven minutes in a game.

Concordia is now 1-8 on the season and has lost its last seven games. Northwestern improves to 5-5 on the season.

Northwestern opened the scoring in the first half on a goal by Trevor Perkins at 10:08. It was the first of Perkins' two goals in the game.

The Cobbers tied the game at 21:21 when Miguel Angel Diaz notched his first collegiate goal. Diaz knocked home a pass from Sylvester Ndhlovu on a free kick from the right side of the goal. For Ndhlovu, it was his team-leading 10th point of the year.

The two teams battled back-and-forth for the remaining 23 minutes of the half with the Eagles holding a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal in the period.

The game was decided in the first five minutes of the second half. After Tim Ferret scored the go-ahead goal at 49:18, Perkins netted his second goal of the game at the 50:20 mark. Perkins' goal came after Concordia Dustin Pattengale stopped a penalty shot. Perkins was able to slam home the rebound before a Cobber defender could clear the ball away from danger.

Concordia was outshot 17-6 in the game, and the Eagles held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. Pattengale made seven saves in the game for the Cobbers, while Northwestern goalie Dave Keller stopped two shots to pick up the win.

The Cobbers will look to stop their losing skid on Saturday, Oct. 8 when they host Bethel at 1:00pm.
