St John's Game Statistics - Now Online

COLEGEVILLE, Minn.-- It was only fitting that the 2005 Concordia men's soccer season would end, the same way it played out through the entire year. Tied at halftime to playoff-bound St. John's, the Cobbers allowed a pair of back-to-back goals in the second half and lost 5-0 to the Johnnies in Collegeville.

St. John's scored their first set of goals just 1:47 apart with 10 minutes gone in the final period. The Johnnies then tacked on their second pair of goals at 74:29 and 75:49 to bust the game wide open and clinch the #3 seed in the upcoming MIAC playoffs. St. John's added one more goal at 87:12 to push the final score to 5-0.

The loss is the 14th in a row for the Cobbers to finish the season. Concordia finishes the year with a 1-15-0 overall mark and a 0-10-0 record in conference play. The Cobbers have not won an MIAC game since Oct. 25, 2003 when they shutout St. Olaf 2-0 - a streak that spans 22 games.

St. John's ends their regular season with a record of 13-2-2 overall and 7-2-1 in league play. It is the most wins in a season for the Johnnies since the 2001 campaign when they went 13-5-0.

For the game, Concordia was outshot 32-12. St. John's also held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Cobber goalie Dustin Pattengale made five saves, while the Johnnie goaltending tandem of Jason Phillippi and Heith Stoll combined to make three stops.
