2010 Cobber Men's Soccer News
Concordia senior midfielder Philip Bruckbauer was named the MIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week for his two-goal performance against Augsburg on Saturday.
Bruckbauer Earns MIAC Weekly Award!

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/12/10)--
Cobber senior midfielder Philip Bruckbauer was named the MIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week it was announced on Tuesday by the league office. It is the first time in his career that he has won the honor. He becomes the second Concordia player to earn the league's weekly award this season. Forward Riley McGlynn was named the Player of the Week on Sept. 21.

Bruckbauer scored the first two goals in Concordia’s 4-3 win over nationally ranked Augsburg on Saturday. Bruckbauer set the stage for the win over the No.24-ranked Auggies by scoring just 1:10 into the game. That goal gave the Cobbers the momentum they would need to take control of the first half. He then added to the lead by netting his sixth goal of the year at 21:18.

Bruckbauer’s play on the right wing caused the Augsburg defense fits the entire first half and ultimately led to the Auggies having to alter their lineup and tactics.

His first-half play sparked Concordia to their sixth win the last seven games. This season, Bruckbauer has six goals and five assists for 17 points and a pair of game-winning goals. The senior is fifth in the MIAC in points, fourth in goals and sixth in assists. Concordia, now 9-3-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the MIAC, is unbeaten in its last seven games and in second place in the conference standings.
