| List of Men's Soccer Academic All-Americans List Of Concordia Academic All-Americans MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/19/08)-- Concordia senior forward Justin Foss (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) capped his brilliant senior season by being named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Third Team it was announced on Wednesday. It is the first time in program history that a player has been named to the prestigious team. He becomes the 18th athlete in Concordia history to earn the sports' top honor. He is also the sixth Cobber athlete in the past three years that have earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors. CC standout women's basketball player Melanie Hageman was the last player to recieve the award as she was named to the team earlier in the spring. Foss carries a 3.58 grade point average while majoring in Psychology. On the field Foss had a career year in 2008. He finished the season with 15 goals and two assists for 32 points. His goal total is the second highest in school history and his point total is fourth best in program history. Foss led the MIAC in goals in conference games this season (9). He scored at least two goals in four of the last six games of the season and had at least one score in eight of the final ten games. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
