BISMARCK, N.D. (9/23/09)-- Concordia lost by a single goal for the fifth straight game on Wednesday in Bismarck. The Cobbers gave up a goal in the first half and fell 1-0 to the University of Mary. The Cobbers held an advantage in total shots and shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net and fell to 2-6-0 on the season. With the win, the Marauders move to 5-6-1.

In the team's previous two one-goal losses, the Cobbers led at half but then allowed two goals in the second period and lost by one. On Wednesday, the University of Mary scored in the 24th minute when Nikola Nikolic dribbled past a Cobber defender and fired a shot into the left side of the net.

Concordia did everything but score in the second half, firing 10 shots at the Marauder goal in the final 45 minutes. The Cobbers had the final four shots of the game in the final 10 minutes of play. However, each tome CC was able to fire a shot on goal, Mary goalkeeper Derek Luptak came up with the big save to keep Concordia off the board.

For the game, Concordia outshot the Marauders 16-13 in total shots and 6-1 in shots on goal. Sophomore forward Riley McGlynn had a team-high five shots for the Cobbers and fellow forward Kristian Reiersgord added four shots. Nikolic had a game-high seven shots for the University of Mary.

Both teams had five corner kicks in the game.

CC goalie Mads Schmidt was not credited with a save for the 90 minutes. Luptak made six stops to pick up the win for Mary.

Concordia will look to snap their one-goal losing streak when they host St. Olaf on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m.
