Senior goalie Mads Schmidt was one of four Cobber players to earn MIAC postseason honors it was announced on Thursday.

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/12/09)-- Four Concordia players earned MIAC postseason awards it was announced on Thursday by the MIAC league office. Senior goalie Mads Schmidt (Rodding, Denmark) and sophomore forward Riley McGlynn (Hampstead, N.C.) were named to the MIAC All-Conference Team and junior midfielder Marco Riboli (Bergamo, Italy) was named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. Senior Ghalib Simai (Zanzibar, Tanzania) was placed on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

The four players helped Concordia to their best season in over seven years. The Cobbers finished the season unbeaten in their final 10 games. CC also finished the year without allowing a goal in the final eight games - a streak that lasted 758:38, the third longest streak in MIAC men’s soccer history. Concordia complied a 6-3-1 record in conference play and finished in a tie for fourth place only to be edged out of the league playoffs on a tie-breaker. Concordia's final record of 11-6-1 was the best since the 2001 season when the team went 12-4-0.

Schmidt, the team's starting goalkeeper for the past four seasons, posted a 0.88 mark in conference play. He tied for the league lead in shutouts and was second in the conference in goals against average and save percentage. He finished the season with an overall goals against average of 0.77. Schmidt was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Nov. 3.

McGlynn had a breakout season in 2009. After only scoring four goals in his freshman season, McGlynn exploded for 11 goals in 2009. He led the team in goals and points as he finished with 11 goals and three assists for 25 points. In conference play he had six goals and one assist for 13 points. He was tied for second in the MIAC in goals per game and tied for fifth in points per game. McGlynn also led the conference in total shots (42) and shots per game (4.20). McGlynn was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Oct. 6.

Riboli was the team's play-making central midfielder. He finished the season with a team-high 10 assists. It was the second consecutive season he has recorded a double-digit assist total. He was tied for second in the conference in assists in overall games. He also finished the year with 14 total points which was second best on the Cobbers. Riboli has 24 career assists.
