Gameday Game Recap:

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (11/01/08)--In a perfect world Concordia would have closed out the 2008 season with a win and put a cap on a return to winning soccer. Unfortunately the Cobbers lost 2-0 at St. John's on Saturday to spoil the fairytale ending. CC gave up a goal in each half and lost to the Johnnies to finish off the year at 9-9-0 overall and 3-7-0 in the MIAC. SJU ends their year at 11-6-1 in all games and 6-3-1 in league play.

Despite coming out on the losing side of the score Concordia outshot St. John's 18-14 in overall shots and 13-8 in shots on goal. It is the first time that the Cobbers have outshot the Johnnies since the 2003 season. Last year CC lost by an identical 2-0 margin but was outshot 12-7 overall and 7-1 on net.

St. John's scored the eventual game-winning goal at 31:00 when Tyler Kodet scored his second goal of the year. A.J. Sollum added the insurance goal at the 67:00 mark to give SJU the two-goal win.

Concordia was led by sophomore Alex Dahl who had a team-high five shots in the game and a game-high four shots on goal.

Cobber goalie Mads Schmidt made six saves in the losing effort while SJU starting keeper Luke Nelson stopped 13 shots to pick up the win.
