Gameday Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/11/08)-- Concordia put offense and defense together on Saturday in Moorhead and came away with a 3-0 win over Hamline. The win snaps a three-game losing streak and helps CC move to 5-8-0 overall and 2-6-0 in the MIAC. The 3-0 loss is the worst conference defeat of the season for the Pipers and ties for the largest margin of defeat in the 2008 season. HU is now 3-8-2 overall and 1-5-2 in league play.

The Cobbers were able to put together a tactical offense as well as a much-improved defense to post the third shutout win of the season. Neither team was able to mount very much offense in the first half hour of play. The teams combined for only three total shots and one shot on goal in the first 30 minutes of play. The breakout moment of the game came in the 39th minute when CC forward Justin Foss broke free and scored his seventh goal of the season. Sophomore Marco Riboli was credited with the assist on the play. The assist is Riboli's 10th of the season. He becomes only the third player in Concordia men's soccer history to record at least 10 assists in a single season.

Concordia was able to use that spark to take control of the game in the second half. The Cobbers outshot the Pipers 9-4 in the second 45 minutes and were rewarded with two goals. The backbreaker for CC came in the 75th minute when little used reserve Michael Posch came off the bench to score his first collegiate goal. Posch's goal came courtesy of hustle and determination. He was able to track down a centering combination from Kyle Kazemi and Foss and poke home a rebound. Foss then finished off the scoring at 86:31 when Foss ran onto a through ball from Kyle Quimby to give CC the 3-0 lead.

Concordia outshot Hamline 16-8 in total shots and 5-4 in shots on goal. CC goalie Mads Schmidt made four stops to collect his third shutout of the season. HU goalie Zach Nelson stopped two shots.

Concordia will step outside of conference play for a pair of games. CC will play at Jamestown on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
