Gameday Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/07/08)-- Concordia equaled their win total in all of 2007 on Sunday when they beat Jamestown 2-1. The Cobbers scored a goal in each half to record their third consecutive win - the most since the 2001 season. CC is now 3-1 on the year and will enter conference play with their best non-conference record since they went 4-0 back in 2001. The Jimmies are now 1-3 on the season.

Concordia started the game by taking the play right at the Jamestown defense. Cobber wing midfielder Alex Dahl repeatedly got behind the defense and took multiple shots on the Jimmie goal. CC was also able to get quality chances in the middle of the field. In the first half alone Concordia outshot Jamestown 21-3 and had the opportunity to put the game well out of reach. The only goal of the first half came by accident as senior midefielder PJ Mack went to deliver a cross from the right wing and sent a laser towards the near post that caught Jimmie goalie Stephen Shoemaker completely off guard and beat him cleanly to the near post.

With the score 1-0 at halftime, Jamestown came out in the second half and pressed for the first few minutes of play and was rewarded when they scored off of a deflection at 46:27. Gerrit Haerter took a shot from the top of the box and it deflected off a leg and bounced past Concordia goalie Mads Schmidt who was going in the direction of the original shot.

The game went back and forth for the next 10 minutes until Cobber freshman Riley McGlynn put CC up for good when he turned on a ball at the top of the box and fired a shot into the top portion of the net. For McGlynn it was his first collegiate goal. Both Marco Riboli and Philip Bruckbauer earned their second assist of the game as they also assisted on Mack's goal in the first half.

In the final 30 minutes of play Jamestown was able to only get one shot on goal as the play turned into a midfield battle.

In the end, Concordia wound up with a decisive 31-8 margin in shots on goal but was hampered by their inability to finish insode the penalty area. Schmidt made two saves to earn his third win of the year. Shoemaker made nine saves for the Jimmies.

The Cobbers will open MIAC play on Wednesday when they host Augsburg at 4:30 p.m.
