Gameday Game Recap:

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (08/30/08)-- Concordia surrendered a 1-0 first-half lead near the end of the opening period and gave up the game-winning goal 8:24 into the second half and fell 2-1 in the season opener against Wartburg on Saturday.

The youthful Cobbers used their energy to create chances in the opening minutes of play and finally broke out on top when freshman Felix Okoth soared above the crowd to head home a cross from a corner kick at the 37:36 mark. Okoth's driving header came off of an assist from fellow freshmen Philip Bruckbauer who delivered a perfect cross to the waiting Okoth.

The lead would be shortlived for CC. Less than three minutes later, Wartburg - who earned a spot in the NCAA playoffs in 2007 - took advantage of a missed clearance and Elvis Alicic scored the first of his two goals in the game at 40:35.

The teams went into the break locked at 1-1 and then Alicic added the game winner just 8:24 into the final period.

Concordia had 10 shots in the game and outshot the Knights 4-3 in the second half. For the game, Wartburg outshot Concordia 13-10. Cobber goalie Mads Schmidt made seven saves as opposed to four by Knight keeper Trent Michael.

Concordia will return to action on Sunday when they square off against the University of Mary at noon at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn.
