2007 Cobber Men's Soccer - Game Recaps
Concordia junior goalie Mads Schmidt returned to the Cobber goal on Wednesday. Schmidt, who made several key stops in CC's 1-0 loss at Macalester, had not played since the season-opener when he broke his hand against Nebraska Wesleyan.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/10/07)-- Buoyed by the return of starting goalkeeper Mads Schmidt, Concordia played even with Macalester for 83 minutes until the Scots pulled out the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to come away with a 1-0 win in St. Paul on Wednesday night.

Both teams had several outstanding chances to score during the first and second halfs of play but both were denied by stellar saves from the two goalies. Schmidt, playing in his first full game of the season, made eight saves in the game and counterpart Ryan Palmer came away with six stops to earn the shutout.

The loss drops Concordia's overall record to 2-9-1 on the season. CC is now 1-5 in MIAC play. Macalester sees their overall mark pushed above the .500 level as they improve to 6-5-3 on the year. The Scots also level their league recod at 3-3.

Macalester outshot the Cobbers 14-7 in overall shots and had a 9-6 edge in shots on goal. The Scots enjoyed a 9-1 margin in corner kicks. Concordia was whistled for 10 fouls as compared to only nine for Macalester.

The Cobbers will be back in action when they play at Hamline on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
