Gameday Game Recap:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/06/07)-- One week after Concordia ended their three-year conference winless streak, the Cobbers were overrun by MIAC frontrunner St. Thomas and lost 6-1. The Tommies scored three goals in each half to come away with the win in St. Paul. The loss snaps CC's one-game winning streaks and drops their overall record to 2-8-1. The Cobbers are now 1-4-0 in the MIAC. The win keeps the Tommies in the hunt for the conference regular-season title. UST is now 4-0-2 in league play and 9-3-2 overall.

The first half proved to be the deciding factor in another game for the Cobbers. CC allowed three goals in the first 45 minutes to the Tommies and has now been outscored 14-2 in the first half of games this year. St. Thomas scored their three goals in the opening 26 minutes. They notched their first at the 8:42 mark and the added two more at 15:33 and 25:09. Despite being outscored 3-0 in the first period, the Cobbers were only outshot 8-7 and actually held the edge in corner kicks at 5-3.

The second half was more of the same as St. Thomas was bale to convert on three of their five shots on goal. The Tommies netted the first two goals of the final half before Concordia was able to get on the board. After Michael Posch was taken down in the penalty area, junior Justin Foss stepped up and converted the ensuing penalty kick. It was Foss' second goal of the season and put CC behind 5-1 with less than five minutes to play. St. Thomas was able to add a sixth goal at the 88:50 mark to push the final margin to five goals.

The final statistics sheet had St. Thomas holding a 16-12 edge in overall shots and an 11-9 advantage in shots on goal. Concordia had a 7-6 lead in corner kicks.

Cobber goalie Kirby Johnson made six saves for the game. The Tommies split the goalkeeping duties. Dan Hutton played the first 77:30 and made eight stops. He was credited with his seventh win of the year. Cameron Roemhildt finished off the last 12:30 and did not make a save and allowed the lone goal in the game.

Concordia will stay on the road in the MIAC when they play at Macalester on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
