Gameday Game Recap:

ST. PETER, Minn. (9/15/07)-- Concordia gave up a pair of goals in the first eight minutes of play against defending conference champion Gustavus, but then battled the Gusties to 82 scoreless minutes and ended up losing 2-0 in St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday.

The opening eight-minute span saw Gustavus score both goals from crosses served into the penalty area. On the first goal of the game, Tim Gendron tapped in the ball from the six-yard box at the 4:42 mark and then Ryan Beduhn headed home a long crossing ball at 7:27. For Gendron and Beduhn it was their first goals of the season.

The Concordia defense was able to settle into the game and contain the Gustie offense for the remainder of the first half. In the opening 45 minutes, the Gusties outshot the Cobbers 10-2.

The second half was more of the same as the CC defense was able to bend but not break, allowing Gustavus 14 shots but no goals. For the game, the Gusties outshot Concordia 24-4 but only 9-2 in shots on goal.

Four different Cobber players each recorded one shot in the game. Alex Dahl, Ryan Albrecht, Marco Riboli and Michael Posch were able to connect on shots. Dahl and Posch notched the only two CC shots on goal.

Cobber keeper Kirby Johnson allowed two goals in the first four shots on goal he faced but then turned aside five shots in the final 82 minutes to finish with seven saves. Luke Strom made two saves in goal for Gustavus to earn his second shutout of the season.
