Game Recap:

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/21/06)-- Concordia gave up a pair of goals in the second half and lost 3-0 to Carleton in Northfield, Minn. on Saturday.

The defeat drops Concordia to 4-9-1 overall and keeps the Cobbers winless in MIAC play at 0-8-1. Carleton improves to 3-3-2 in the conference and 9-5-2 overall.

The Cobbers were able to hold off the Knights until the 34th minute of the game bf the game before Carleton received the game-winning goal from Paul Pedtke who headed in a cross from Charlie Wood. It was the first of two goals in the game from Pedtke. The goal kept Concordia's streak intact of not scoring the first goal in any conference game this season. The Cobbers have also not had a lead in any of their nine league games this year. The shutout represents the eighth time in nine league games that Concordia has not scored a goal.

After the break, Carleton came out on the attack and added to their lead 1:08 into the second half. Ross Martin scored his fourth goal of the year as he one-timed a ball into the back of the net from a cross from Thomas Ashton. Pedtke netted his second goal of the game when he scored an unassisted nugget at 68:50.

Carleton held a 21-9 advantage in overall shots and a 11-4 edge in shots on goal. Cobber goalie Mads Schmidt made seven saves, while Carleton keeper Ross Mattson made four saves to earn his third shutout of the year and eighth overall win.

Concordia will stay in Northfield and play Central (Iowa) on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. at Carleton.
