Concordia forwards Brandon Root and Kwaku Opoku earned MIAC postseason honors for the first time in their careers it was announced on Monday.

Complete MIAC All-Conference Honors


MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/13/06)-- A pair of Cobber forwards earned MIAC postseason honors it was announced the league office on Monday. Brandon Root (Jr., Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) was named to the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team and Kwaku Opoku (Jr., Takoradi, Ghana/ Mfantsipion HS) was placed on the newly-formed MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

For Root, it is the first time in his career that he has earned a conference postseason award. He led the team in scoring for the third time in his career. He finished the year with eight goals and two assists for 18 points on the year. It is also the third consecutive season that he has finished with eight goals on the year. Root now has 58 points in his career and is eighth on the school's all-time scoring list.

Root was sixth in the MIAC in points and goals for overall games in 2006. He scored three of the team's four game-winning goals during the year.

Like Root, Opoku earns a conference postseason honor for the first time. The hard-working forward finished second on the team in scoring with three goals and two assists for eight points. He also tied for second on the team for shots taken with 38.
