NORTHFIELD, Minn.-- One week before the start of the MIAC Championship Meet, the Concordia men's golf team tuned up their game by claiming the team title at the Carleton Invitational at the Northfield Golf Club in Northfield, Minn.

In a case of good news getting even better, the Cobbers also had the top two finishers in the individual race. Drew Dvorak fired a two-day total of 149 to claim medalist honors by one over teammate Mike Lundberg.

Concordia used a season-best team total on day two of the competition to take their first team championship since the 1999 season when they tied for first at the Concordia Invitational.

Led by Dvorak and Lundberg, the Cobbers fired a 299 on the final day of play. That is the first time Conncordia has broken the 300-shot barrier this season.

The Cobbers beat seven other MIAC teams to claim the team championship. Concordia bettered runner-up St. John's by 21 shots and third-place finisher Gustavus by 26.

Concordia will use a week of practice to prepare for the MIAC Championship Meet. The conference meet will be held at the Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids,  Minn. on Oct. 1-2. The Cobbers will try and improve on last year's sixth place finish at the conference meet.
