MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/07/08)-- Concordia sophomore Tom Sederquist (Moorhead, Minn.) was named the MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. It is the first time in his career that he has earned the weekly award. He becomes the first Cobber men's cross country runner in the history of the program to win the award.

Sederquist earned the weekly honor for his performance at the Jimmie Invitational on Friday. Sederquist ran a 26:08 over the eight-kilometer course and won the vent by 15 seconds over quality NAIA competition. The win was Sederquist's second consecutive individual title as he won the UND Invite on Sept. 19.

Sederquist's performance also helped Concordia finish second as a team. That is the highest team finish of the season and best since the 2004 campaign when they also finished second at the South Dakota Tech Invite.
