2010 Cobber Men's Cross Country Recaps

Cobber senior Tom Sederquist backed up his win at the NDSU Bison Open by running away from the field at the St. Olaf Invite and winning the meet by almost :30 seconds.
Another Meet, Another Win!

Meet Recap

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (9/18/10)-- Cobber senior Tom Sederquist proved that his opening-meet win at the NDSU Bison Open was no fluke as he captured his second straight individual championship of the 2010 season. Sederquist sped to a 25:53 at the St. Olaf Invite and won the meet by almost a full :30 seconds. He was the only runner in the top 5 of the meet that was from a Division III school.

Sederquist helped Concordia finish in eighth place as a team. That is the highest the Cobbers have finished as a team at a multiple-MIAC team meet in over four years. In the process, Concordia beat out rivals Augsburg, Carleton and Macalester.

Sederquist took command of the race early. Just after the one-mile mark he edged away from the leaders and, by 2000 meters, held a 20 meter lead. No one was able to cut into Sederquist's lead and he went unchallenged the remainder of the 8000 meter course - going on to win by 29 seconds.

Sophomore Brad McConn was the second fastest Cobber at the meet. McConn clocked a 27:26 and finished in 36th place. His time was almost a lifetime best.

Sederquist and the rest of the Cobbers will step up in competition when they compete at the prestigious Roy Griak Invite hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in St. Paul.
