Meet Recap

ST. PAUL, Minn.  (10/31/09)--Concordia capped the MIAC cross country season by finishing 11th at the conference meet in St. Paul on Saturday. The Cobbers, who were suffering through several injuries and bouts with the flu, did not place a runner in the top 50 at the meet but had several runners post solid individual times.

Concordia was led by a pair of upperclassmen who finished within one second of each other. Paul Lillehaugen raced to a 28:34.6 and was the top CC finisher for the second straight meet. Senior Mike Reponen was only .02 behind as he posted a time of 28:34.8 and finished in 65th place. The two paced each other throughout the meet and helped each other post their career best conference meet times. It is the first time each runner broke the 29-minute barrier at the year-end conference meet.

The Cobbers had a pair of freshmen in their top five. Ben Jacobson ran a 29:10.0 and was the third-best Cobber harrier in the meet and Brad McConn recorded a time of 29:18.5 in his first MIAC meet. McConn had led the Cobbers in four of the first five meets of the year but dropped back to the team's No.5 runner at the conference meet.

CC will keep training and compete at the NCAA Regional Meet on Nov. 14 at Grinnell College in Iowa.
