FARGO, N.D.  (9/04/09)--The Cobbers opened with a triangular meet vs NDSU and MSU-Moorhead today at the Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo, N.D. Concordia finished third at the NDSU Invite with a total team score of 102 points.

Freshman Brad McConn (Fargo, ND/South HS) led the Cobber in the 5k race by placing 24th with a time of 16:41. McConn's diligent summer training really paid off. He broke the summer mileage record for incoming freshmen with 750 miles, formerly held by Ben Nylander (2000, Lisbon, ND).

McConn was followed closely by senior captain Mike Reponen (Brainerd, MN) in 28th (17:09) and junior Paul Lillehaugen (Moorhead, MN) in 29th (17:10).

The Cobbers announced today that junior Tom Sederquist (Moorhead, MN) will be taking a year off from college competition to retain eligibility for a fifth year. The loss of Sederquist, the team's number one runner every meet the last two years, will take its toll on the team standings.

The next meet for the Cobbers is the Montana State Invite in Bozeman, Montana on September 19.
