MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/24/06)--Concordia junior Paul Shol (Fergus Falls, Minn.) was named the MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his highlight performance against St. John's on Saturday. It is the first time in his career that he has earned the conference weekly award. he becomes the second Concordia player to win Player of the Week honors. Senior running back Adam Swingdorf was named MIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against MSU Moorhead.

Shol offered one of the lone highlights in the Cobbers' 52-21 loss at Saint John's on Saturday. In the third quarter, Shol returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown for one of Concordia's three scores on the day.

It was the first time since 2003 that a Cobber player had returned a kickoff for a touchdown. The last time that happened was on Nov. 1, 2003 when Bobby Clark had an 85-yard kickoff return against St. Olaf.

Shol's 90-yard kick return is the second longest in program history - behind only the 100-yard return by Darren Kessler against Augsburg in 1985.

For the day, Shol had five kickoff returns for 170 yards and averaged 34.0 yards on kickoff returns. He currently leads the MIAC in kickoff returns, averaging 28.9 yards per retunr on his 10 returns this season.
