A Closer Look: Punters

Moorhead, Minn.-- Horan's take on the punting situation: "Punting will be interesting for us this year. We will have to test a lot of players out in that position."

Draxten was the team's punter last season and proved a solid leg, averaging just under 35 yards per kick. There is not a single player on the team with a lot of college punting experience, but there are several players who have shown talent in high school and in practice sessions. Leading the way is defensive back Chris Klabo. Klabo was a 35-40 yard average punter for Brainerd High School. He made eight punts in his freshman season in 2003 and had a long punt of 47 yards. After Klabo, there is a stable of former high school punters waiting. Kevin Williamson and Brody Clarke have both been given a tryout as punters early in their careers at Concordia and both will have a chance in 2005.

Tyler Anderson will return as the team's main kick return specialist. His ability to beat the first defender and open field speed make him a threat on any kick. Last year he had an average of 16.5 yards per return.
