Complete MIAC Player of the Week Awards MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/29/08) -- Concordia junior safety Andrew Larson was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. It is the first time that Larson has earned the player to be named to the weekly Player of the Week honor roll. Larson led the Cobber defense as they held defending MIAC champion Bethel to only 179 yards of total offense on Saturday in Concordia's 24-7 win over the Royals. Larson had a team-high eight total tackles and team highs in solo tackles (6) and assisted tackles (4) and made a key interception in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Cobbers. Concordia's defense did not allow a touchdown in the game (BU's only score came on a kickoff return) and have only allowed six points in their first two MIAC games again preseason favorites Saint John's and Bethel. Larson was a huge part of the CC defense that has helped Concordia to a 2-0 league start and a three-game winning streak. The CC defense held Bethel to only 179 yards of total offense - their lowest total of the season and lowest since before the 2005 season. Concordia also contained All-MIAC running back Logan Flannery to only 41 rushing yards. That is his lowest of the season and only time he has been held under 120 yards for the year. It was also his second lowest rushing total in his career.
