MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/13/10)-- Concordia senior defensive end Perry Patterson (Blaine, Minn.) was named to the D3football.com Defensive Team of the Week it was announced on Thursday. Patterson played an integral role  in helping the Cobbers post an impressive 42-0 win over Valley City State on Saturday.

Patterson was the leader of the Concordia defense that posted its first shutout since the 2005 season. The Cobbers held the Vikings to -17 rushing yards for the game and 133 yards in total offense for the four quarters. Patterson had a team-high eight tackles against Valley City. He also came up with 5.5 tackles for a loss and 2.0 sacks. To top his game off, he came up with one of the three forced fumbles in the game.

Patterson and the rest of the Cobbers will open MIAC play on Saturday when they face No.21-ranked St. John's in Collegeville at 1 p.m.
