MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/26/08)--Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., head football coach Terry Horan announced that Fargo Oak Grove High School head football coach Kyle Bakken has been hired as an assistant coach at Concordia College. Bakken will be the video and technical coordinator for the Cobbers and will also serve as junior varsity defensive line coach. “I am very excited to add Kyle to our staff,” commented Horan. “He has had a lot of success at the high school level and is a tremendous addition to the program at Concordia. Kyle will add another dimension to an already talented coaching staff and I look forward to him working with our student/athletes.” Bakken was the head football coach at Fargo Oak Grove High School for five years from 2003-07. During that time he amassed a 41-12 overall record and won the North Dakota State Championship in 2007. He helped the Grovers to five consecutive appearances in the North Dakota State High School League playoffs. In 2006 he was selected as one of the assistant coaches for the annual Shrine Bowl game. “Kyle did an outstanding job at Oak Grove,” summarized Horan. “He is a coach that has a bright future in the profession. I hope that he will continue to grow as a coach and a mentor to young athletes while at Concordia.” Bakken received his bachelor’s degree from Minot State University in 1992. He earned his master’s degree from the University of Mary in 1998. He played college football for Minot State after starring for Oak Grove as a wide receiver and cornerback during high school.
