COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (9/18/10)-- Concordia outscored No.21-ranked St. John's 28-26 in the final three quarters on Saturday in Collegeville. Unfortunately for the Cobbers there is a first quarter, and after allowing 14 points in the first seven minutes of the game, Concordia ended up losing 40-28.

The game turned into a track meet from the very first set of downs and both offenses racked up huge yardage in a game that featured over 950 yards of total offense and almost 70 points. Cobber junior quarterback Michael Dunham was a huge part of that equation as he passed 51 times and completed 32 passes. Both marks are single game records for Concordia. He finished the game 32-for-51 for 305 yards and two TD's. He also led the team in rushing with 30 yards on eight attempts.

The Cobbers had seven receivers catch at least three passes in the game and three receivers had five or more receptions. Mike Starke led CC in receptions with eight while freshman Mark Whiting caguth seven passes for a team-high 92 yards. Senior Zach Weller had four catches and caught both of Dunham's scoring strikes. He caught a 7-yard TD pass in the second quarter and then hauled in a 25-yard TD pass in the third quarter.

As an offense, the Cobbers amassed 417 total yards. They held a 31:21-28:39 edge in time of possession and had only one turnover.

St. John's passed for 367 yards and tacked on another 169 on the ground. They also had one turnover and were 6-for-10 on third down conversions.

The Concordia defense once again gave up several big plays. SJU had scoring plays of 73, 34 and 24 yards and had five plays go for over 20 yards in the game. Quarterback Joe Boyle was 16-for-23 for 275 yards and 3 TD's. SJU had a pair of receivers surpass the 100-yard receiving mark. Brent Graboski caught three passes for 116 yards and had two TD's while Sam Pederson came up with 101 yards on four catches.

Cobber linebacker Connor Butenhoff had a team-high eight tackles. Zach Debeltz and Matt Moenkedick both had seven tackles in the game. Senior defensive lineman Aaron Schindler had five tackles, 1.0 sack and 1.0 forced fumbles. Brent Rysdahl came up with the only turnover for CC as he collected his first collegiate interception in the first quarter.

Concordia will go from the MIAC frying pan into the fire when they play at No.5-ranked St. Thomas on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.
