MOORHEAD, Minn. (8/19/06)-- The Concordia offensive line will continue to be one of the strong points of the Cobber team in 2007. Offensive line coach, and newly appointed co-offensive coordinator, Dan Kostich continues to turn out topflight talent year in and year out. The 2007 edition of the “hogs” will feature a pair of tackles who have been integral parts of the Cobbers’ success since 2004. Two-time MIAC postseason award-winner Grant Weller (Sr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) returns to protect the left tackle position. He has helped the Cobbers finish in the top two in rushing for the past two seasons. He has the ability to excel at both rush and pass blocking and will look to continue CC’s ability to not give up critical sacks. Joining Weller will be Kris Peterson (Sr., Moorhead, Minn) who has steadily improved throughout his three years in maroon and gold. He will hold down the right tackle position and help protect left-handed quarterback Jesse Nelson’s blind side. Rounding out the line will be a pair a seasoned veteran, a hungry sophomore and a relative newcomer. Center Zach Eidelbes (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) has logged many game repetitions and will fill in very nicely for Scott Halupczok who was lost to graduation. John M. Anderson (So., Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) got a taste of collegiate action last season and returns to take over the right guard spot. Luke Holt (Sr., Grafton, N.D.) moved over from the defensive side of the ball last season and has a chance to be a force opening up holes for the traditionally strong Cobber running attack. He will be vying for the starting left guard spot as the season gets under way, Not only is the offensive line one of the strongest positions on the team it is also one of the deepest spots. Should any of the top five falter, a quartet of seniors will be waiting to make sure that Concordia continues to push forward. Mike Burke (Donnelly, Minn./Morris Area HS), Zach Sundberg (Champlin Park, Minn.), Chad Johnson (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo HS) and Marcel Rivard (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson) have all shown the capability to be one of the starting five. Others to watch for on the offensive line: Billy Oehlers, Josh Mitchell Bet You Didn’t Know: All three of the players listed on the roster that weigh at least 295 pounds play on the offensive line.
