NCAA 2007 Football Attendance Release MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/08/08)--Concordia finished second in the nation in Division III attendance it was announced by the NCAA on Friday. The Cobbers averaged a school-record 5,441 fans for their five homes games in 2007. A total of 27,207 people attended Concordia football games during the fall. Concordia finished second behind St. John's who also set a school record in 2007. SJU averaged 8,769 fans per game. The Cobbers and Johnnies were the driving forces behind the MIAC leading all Division III conferences in attendance in the fall. The MIAC averaged 3,594 fans per game, which was a 372 spectator per contest increase over last season. Over 49 home contests in 2007, the MIAC total attendance was a Division III-best 176,129 fans. Following Concordia in the national rankings were Emory & Henry (5,249), Baldwin-Wallace (5,234) and Mississippi College (4,732). For the second straight season, NCAA overall football attendance set a new standard as during the 2007 season 619 institutions combined for a total gate of 48,751,861, topping last season's record by 842,548 fans. Division III averaged 1,961 fans per game at the division's 1,158 games this season for an increase of 121 fans per game. In total, 2,270,313 spectators attended Division III contests in 2007, an increase of 170,567 over last season. Michigan's 110,264 fans per game over eight home contests gave the Wolverines their 10th straight Football Bowl Subdivision attendance title. Appalachian State led the Football Championship Subdivision by averaging 24,218 spectators per game and Miles led Division II by averaging 13,225 spectators per game.
