MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/17/07)--The end of the award season has finally come to a close for Concordia senior offensive tackle Grant Weller (Sauk Centre, Minn.). Weller finished his illustrious senior season by earning D3football.com All-American honors. Weller, who was selected to the All-American Honorable Mention Team, becomes the 21st player in Cobber football history to earn All-American honors. He is also the first since the quartet of Nick Didier, Josh Dietz, Andrew Passanante and Jordan Talge received the top playing honor in 2004.

The All-American award finishes the list of Weller's postseason achievements. Last week he was named to the D3football.com All-West Region First Team. Earlier, Weller helped the USA all-star team defeat Mexico in the annual Aztec Bowl. Before that, he was named the top lineman in the MIAC (Mike Stam Award) and was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Team.

Weller helped Concordia to a 7-3 overall record in 2007. It was the fifth time in the past six seasons Concordia has posted at least seven wins on the year. He also helped the Cobber offense that set a school record for points and touchdowns in a season.

Weller was a three-year starter on the offensive line. He was the leader of a group that helped Concordia set the school record for most points in a season (416) and touchdowns (58). The Cobber offense is currently ranked seventh in the nation in scoring, 10th in the country in rushing offense and 13th in overall offense. CC scored 50-plus points in a school record four games in 2007 and posted at least 40 points in six games. Weller was named the team Offensive Lineman of the Week twice in 2007.
