Profile: Concordia is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Location: Concordia is on the Moorhead side of the "other" twin cities comprised of Moorhead, Minn., and Fargo, N.D. With a metropolitan-area population of nearly 175,000, Fargo-Moorhead is one of the fastest-growing areas in the country.

Campus: Nestled in the middle of residential Moorhead, the Concordia campus includes 120-acres of beautifully landscaped, park-like grounds with more than 40 buildings.

Students: More than 2,800 full-time students from 37 states and 36 countries representing 46 religions and denominations attend Concordia. Twenty-nine percent are in the top 10 percent of their high school class. Eighty-six percent are in the top 50 percent. Twelve percent score 29 or above on the ACT and 67 percent score between 21 and 28.

Faculty: Concordia employs 220 full-time faculty members from all parts of the country with expertise ranging from medicine to journalism to environmental studies to languages and religion.

Class Size: 83 percent of classes with fewer than 30 students. The student/faculty ratio is 14:1.

Academic Program: The Concordia curriculum includes 78 majors and 18 honors majors in 24 academic departments; and 12 pre-professional programs including dentistry, engineering, law, medicine, seminary and veterinary medicine among others.

Degrees: Concordia grants Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees, as well as a Master of Science degree in nursing in conjunction with Minnesota State University Moorhead and North Dakota State University.

May Seminars, Exploration Seminars and Study Abroad: Designed for a week, month, semester or academic year, Concordia's global curricular experiences have made the college a recognized national leader in study abroad.

Music at Concordia: Students can participate in 16 music organizations, and more than 700 private lessons are taken each week.

Athletics: A multi-year championship member of the NCAA Division III and the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Concordia fields 20 competitive teams - 10 men's teams and 10 women's teams. The college has all-American designations in men's and women's track and cross country, men's hockey, women's swimming, women's golf, volleyball and football. In its most recent season, Concordia had more NCAA Scholars than any other school in the nation. The college also fields 19 intramural teams.

Clubs and Organizations: More than 90 arts, athletic, cultural, outdoor, religious, social and service clubs

Religious Life: Concordia offers a variety of worship experiences including chapel services Monday through Thursday, Wednesday Communion and Sunday Night at East (a student-led worship and praise service).

Graduates: Ninety-six percent of new Concordia graduates are accepted to graduate school or employed within six months of graduation.

Special Recognition: Recognized for quality faculty and curriculum in Barron's 300: Best Buys in College Education; one of the top five U.S. liberal arts colleges for the number of students who gain global experience studying abroad; selected by the John Templeton Foundation as one of America's leading character-building colleges.

Affordability: 95 percent of Concordia students benefit from more than $32 million in financial aid programs. The average award is $15,000 per year. An 88 percent four-year graduation rate compared to a national average of 70 percent at other private institutions and 49 percent at public institutions means significantly lower overall tuition costs and earlier career earnings.*
