Students interested in engineering have the opportunity to
integrate basic science with Concordia’s nationally
known liberal arts curriculum that emphasizes problem-solving
and communication skills. These skills are particularly helpful when you consider that
the chief role of an engineer is to apply knowledge of the
basic principles of science and design in ways that are beneficial
and inspiring to humankind.
The pre-engineering program at Concordia is offered in collaboration
with nearby North Dakota State University or the Institute
of Technology at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
Concordia Benefits
• Excellent introductory courses in mathematics and
physics.
• Small classes with close attention from expert faculty.
• Outstanding opportunities for participation in campus
activities, including sports, music and theatre.
• Students may earn degrees from both Concordia and
NDSU or the University of Minnesota.
On To a Career
By combining Concordia’s acclaimed liberal arts education
and rigorous science curriculum with the technical instruction
at NDSU or the University of Minnesota, students will experience
the best of both worlds. A liberal arts education addresses
values and educates students to deal effectively with people.
The Concordia combination of stressing in-depth science and
a broad exposure to many disciplines with an emphasis on independent
thinking and communication skills helps better prepare students
for advancement into professional positions of leadership.
University of Minnesota Institute of Technology
Through the dual degree program, students can earn a bachelor
of arts degree from Concordia and a bachelor of engineering
degree or master of science degree from the University of
Minnesota.
Plan One is the bachelor’s degree program.
Students complete three years of study, including a comprehensive
program of liberal arts requirements and the requisite pre-engineering
courses in math and science at Concordia. Students then transfer
to Institute of Technology for the final two years. Students
may also complete a four-year degree at Concordia before transferring
to the Institute of Technology to complete the bachelor of
engineering degree.
