S.G. Reinertsen Elementary
3 - 4:40 pm, Friday, February 1st 2013
The Concordia Science Academy is a free after-school event designed to provide elementary students with a chance to take part in a range of hands-on science activities. The Science Academy will take place in the Junior school gym at Reinertsen following the end of the school day. Parents can pick up children at 4:40 pm (or before if needed). The event is staffed by volunteer students and faculty from Concordia College and free to attend though you do need to register your children online (link below will open soon - register early to avoid disappointment). The event consists of an opening show by Concordia faculty followed by the main Science Academy where a large number of safe hands-on activities are located throughout the gym. Elementary attendees can move between these at will experiencing a wide spectrum of science demos including chemistry, biology, physics, psychology, neuroscience and math. At the end of the show, there is a closing show then kids can be collected.
Parents are asked to register children online and an email with more information will be sent out a few days before the event. The event is open to Reinertsen students from Grades 1 to 5 (no kindergartners), parents need not attend though the PTAC is always looking for a few volunteers to help with registration / check-in.
