Accreditation

Concordia College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools as a degree-granting institution. It holds memberships in the Association of American Colleges, the American Council on Education, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and the Lutheran Education Conference of North America. The Department of Music is approved by the National Association of Schools of Music. The teacher education program for elementary and secondary teachers is accredited by the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and is approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching. Graduates in accounting are qualified to take the Minnesota examination for the CPA certificate under rules of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. The Department of Chemistry is certified by the American Chemical Society for providing professional education in chemistry. The social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The nursing program is accredited by the National League for Nursing. The Minnesota State Board of Education has approved the Department of Family and Nutrition Sciences for the training of vocational home economics, home economics/family life and occupational home economics. The food/nutrition and dietetics program is approved by the American Dietetic Association. The college also has membership approval of the American Association of University Women.

Major and Minor Programs

Concordia's 24 academic departments offer 56 professional and 24 teaching majors. Majors and minors are available in the subject areas listed below. Concentrations within a specific major are sub-listed below that program. Special programs in elementary education include teaching minors in art, family life education and science; and licensure in kindergarten. Both elementary and secondary education students may secure licensure in French, German, Latin, Spanish, coaching and secondary developmental reading.
