Since the first preparation course held at Concordia College
in 1991, the Parish Nurse Center has helped over 1,400 nurses
complete the course. Many of these nurses serve as parish nurses
in their home congregations in Minnesota, North Dakota, South
Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas, Montana and throughout the
United States.
The center offers educational preparation programs at Concordia
College in Moorhead, Minn., Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.,
Duluth, Minn, and Alexandria, Minn areas.

Churches are encouraged to sponsor nurses from their congregation and provide the program fee. Some of the courses we offer cover topics like:

Wholistic Health and Wellness Concepts for the Parish Nurse

The Parish Nurse as a Personal Health Counselor and Advocate

The Parish Nurse Working With People Across the Life Span
Those interested in Parish Nursing should meet the following requirements:

Registered nurse

Commitment to the wholistic concept of health care, including the spiritual dimension of healing and health

Good communication skills

Active involvement with a local congregation

Commitment to completion of the program
